If you find yourself hitting the snooze button(闹钟延时按钮) every morning, don't blame yourself. Your work schedule could be to blame.
Research now shows that, for many of us, our work schedules don't go with our natural body clocks—and experts are urging employers to take notice. Sleep is a “strategic resource” that most companies are ignoring. When work schedules are aligned with people's natural sleep patterns, they produce higher quality and more reformatory work because they are more focused, less stressed and generally healthier. The opposite is also true—when employees are not getting enough sleep they are more likely to make major mistakes and suffer from workplace injuries.
But it's not just about the amount of sleep you get. It's important that people recognize every living thing, from bacteria to human beings, has a biologically determined internal body clock. This determines whether you are a night owl(夜猫子), an early bird or somewhere in the middle. We don't have any choice. “It's like feet,” said Till Roenneberg, a professor of chronobiology(生物钟学). “Some people are born with big feet and some with small feet, but most people are somewhere in the middle.”
Many companies start the workday at 8 a.m. or 9 a.m., putting their work schedules in disagreement with their employees' body clock. This mismatch, along with the pressure to be productive and be available to respond to email or take calls at all hours of the day and night, means that many people suffer from what is called “social jet lag” .

There is a beautiful story I heard once about a child playing with a vase that his mother had left on the table for a few moments. When the mother turned at the sound of her son crying, she saw that his hand was in the vase and was apparently stuck. She tried to help him and pulled and pulled until the child cried out in pain. Ramen noodles have been a go-to food for students for decades. After all, they only take eight minutes to cook in a dorm hotpot and are easy on the budget. Holly Grounds, a recent project design graduate of Ravens Bourne University, in London, used to eat a lot of ramen noodles when she studied. But it got her thinking that the packaging of a product that takes just minutes to cook and eat shouldn’t take decades or more to decompose(分解). That’s why she decided to make eatable wrappers for noodles, avoiding the need for plastic.
Grounds wanted to produce a product that the user could watch actually dissolve in the pot, unlike other bio-based films(包装膜)that are being developed. “While other bio-based alternatives to plastic claim to be compostable(可用作堆肥的), from a consumer perspective it’s not always that simple,” she said. “Many of the emerging(新兴的) bio-based films only break down in an industrial composter at 50 degrees Celsius, so they often end up in the wrong place without the consumer really knowing that they caused damage to the planet.”
Now, instead of plastic packs of seasonings（调料）, the dried spices and flavorings are part of a flavorless bioplastic film that wraps the noodles and keeps them fresh. The film dissolves in less than a minute when it comes into contact with boiling water, according to Grounds, and the liquid becomes the sauce for the noodles and larger ingredients like dried shrimp.
“The ingredients are mixed and heated until the mixture is thick enough. At this point, I add the spices and flavorings before pouring it into a mold(模具) to set for 24 hours,” Grounds said. These noodle parcels are then packaged in a wax-coated paper.
With plastics taking hundreds of years to decompose and filling landfills and oceans globally, eatable packaging and single-use items are seen as the way to go. Grounds sees opportunities to use her eatable packaging for other ready meals and she wants to contribute to the global fight against single-use plastics.

In my childhood, my parents sent me to learn Chinese handwriting, believe that it could benefit me great. However, things are quite opposite to their expectations. Last Friday afternoon witnessed the grand Coming-of-Age Ceremony intended for us Senior Three students.
All the students and teachers gathered on the sports field at 16:00 punctually. There were various activities to celebrate the coming 18-year-old birthday. Firstly, we walked across the Coming-of- age Gate, which means we are grown-ups (who are to shoulder social responsibilities). What impressed me most was the moment when all of us were crowned and then made an oath about what should be done as civilized youths under the Constitution. At last, we let our dreams fly, carried by balloons.

If you find yourself hitting the snooze button(闹钟延时按钮) every morning, don't blame yourself. Your work schedule could be to blame.
Research now shows that, for many of us, our work schedules don't go with our natural body clocks—and experts are urging employers to take notice. Sleep is a “strategic resource” that most companies are ignoring. When work schedules are aligned with people's natural sleep patterns, they produce higher quality and more reformatory work because they are more focused, less stressed and generally healthier. There is a beautiful story I heard once about a child playing with a vase that his mother had left on the table for a few moments. Ramen noodles have been a go-to food for students for decades. After all, they only take eight minutes to cook in a dorm hotpot and are easy on the budget. Holly Grounds, a recent project design graduate of Ravens Bourne University, in London, used to eat a lot of ramen noodles when she studied. But it got her thinking that the packaging of a product that takes just minutes to cook and eat shouldn’t take decades or more to decompose(分解). That’s why she decided to make eatable wrappers for noodles, avoiding the need for plastic.
Grounds wanted to produce a product that the user could watch actually dissolve in the pot, unlike other bio-based films(包装膜)that are being developed. “While other bio-based alternatives to plastic claim to be compostable(可用作堆肥的), from a consumer perspective it’s not always that simple,” she said. “Many of the emerging(新兴的) bio-based films only break down in an industrial composter at 50 degrees Celsius, so they often end up in the wrong place without the consumer really knowing that they caused damage to the planet.”
Now, instead of plastic packs of seasonings（调料）, the dried spices and flavorings are part of a flavorless bioplastic film that wraps the noodles and keeps them fresh. The film dissolves in less than a minute when it comes into contact with boiling water, according to Grounds, and the liquid becomes the sauce for the noodles and larger ingredients like dried shrimp.
“The ingredients are mixed and heated until the mixture is thick enough. At this point, I add the spices and flavorings before pouring it into a mold(模具) to set for 24 hours,” Grounds said. These noodle parcels are then packaged in a wax-coated paper.
With plastics taking hundreds of years to decompose and filling landfills and oceans globally, eatable packaging and single-use items are seen as the way to go. Grounds sees opportunities to use her eatable packaging for other ready meals and she wants to contribute to the global fight against single-use plastics.

Last Friday afternoon witnessed the grand Coming-of-Age Ceremony intended for us Senior Three students.
