    Sport 4: Swimming
    The Kowloon City Aquatic Centre is a 10-minute walk from our school. Four teachers will go the pool and conduct the goings-on from the poolside. We will only be able to reserve the pool for one hour (i. e. 2:45 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.). Only students skillful at swimming can take up this activity. The pool will have two lifeguards present.     Walter, a 3-year-old dog that survived on its own for almost a year recently came back to his owner, who said she never gave up hope that he was still out there.
    Kate Olson, who lives in New Hampshire, celebrated the safe return of Walter, who was lost last year. “There is a part of me that just always knew that I was going to get him,” Olson said.
    Olson was visiting her boyfriend's parents in St. Louis for the holidays when Walter escaped. Walter was on a walk with her boyfriend's parents and “he just got so frightened that he backed out of his collar and he just took off,” she said.
    Olson, who got Walter as an 8-week-old puppy, searched for Walter for two weeks without any luck. She said it was hard to go back home knowing he was missing.
    To continue her search for Walter, Olson posted (发帖子) all over social media asking for help. She created a Facebook group called “Where's Walter?” to get help from people in the community.
    A member of that Facebook group saw a post about a dog sighting (目睹) and sent it to Olson. Luckily, the dog in the photo was Walter.
    Walter was caught by an organization called Lost Paws Trapping. “13 days shy of living in the woods, avoiding everyone he met and finally on Friday the 13th, Walter has been trapped.” Lost Paws Trapping wrote on its Facebook page.
    Olson said seeing Walter after nearly a year was extremely emotional. “I had to control my feelings just because…I was in shock,” she said.
    Despite living on his own for the past year, Olson said Walter seemed physically unharmed and should be OK. She is thankful for her happy ending and her friends on social media who helped track down Walter. Her advice to anyone with a missing pet is “just to keep trying.”

    If someone were to ask me what it is like to be a student now, I would probably answer them like this: being a student in today’s society is not always easy.
    Adults often tell us that we don’t know what stress is. But we have our own levels of stress. Many students in their high school years start their first job, so now you have school in the mornings, followed by responsibilities at home and work. By the time you are done there, you are too tired to finish your school work, but you stay up late to finish and return to school feeling sleepy the next day. What good is that?
    Let’s not forget about peer (同龄人) pressure. All high school students meet with it at some point in their lives. High school can be a place where students are made fun of, singled out and pointed at.
    My point is: it is a whole lot more stressful to be a student in high school than adults believe. Our stress may not include paying bills, but I’m sure if the adults in our lives could go back to school today, they would be surprised at how much it has changed.
    I admit that there aren’t good moments and memories while we are students. My mum always tells me to enjoy it while I can. I know that the world outside of school is often hard and that the responsibilities are serious. That’s exactly why I know that the focus I give to my future is important in leading me to a career that will allow me to contribute (贡献) to society.

    How fit are your teeth? Are you lazy about brushing them? Never fear: An inventor is on the case. An electric toothbrush senses how long and how well you brush, and it lets you track your performance on your phone.
    The Kolibree toothbrush was exhibited at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week. It senses how it is moved and can send the information to an Android phone or iPhone via a Bluetooth wireless connection.
    The toothbrush will be able to teach you to brush right (don’t forget the insides of the teeth!) and make sure you’re brushing long enough. “It’s kind of like having a doctor actually watch your brushing on a day-to-day basis,” says Thomas Serval, the French inventor.
    The toothbrush will also be able to talk to other applications(应用) on your phone, so developers could, for example, create a game controlled by your toothbrush. You could score points for beating monsters(怪物) among your teeth. “We try to make it smart but also fun,” Serval says.
    Serval says he was inspired by his experience as a father. He would come home from work and ask his kids if they had brushed their teeth. They said “yes,” but Serval would find their toothbrush heads dry. He decided he needed a brush that really told him how well his children brushed.
