    Lesson 17: Seeing a Doctor

     


    设计说明

    首先,利用图片,通过两个人对话的形式复习有关情感的表达;并利用该对话,学习本课节的生词、短语及表达。接着,由听力导入到对Part 1的学习。通过读后回答问题、读后填空和读后表演步步递进,学习Part 1。 对于Part 2,采取先学生词,再听音回答问题、读后回答问题、读后填空、读后表演和读后练习等步骤递进式学习,让学生逐渐掌握所学内容。最后,通过Let’s Do It! No. 4的练习,编写对话,达到学以致用的目的。

    教学目标

    通过本课节的教学,学生达成以下目标:

    1.知识目标

    掌握单词:stomachache, better, matter, headache, medicine, stay, rest

    接触单词:Jim, Dr.(= doctor), aachoo

    短语和句型:see a doctor, have a cold, stay home, have a rest

    Are you OK?   I have a stomachache/headache.

    You’d/You had better… What’s the matter?

    2.能力目标

    (1)能用英语询问和描述病情;

    (2)能与医生就病情进行交流。

    3.情感目标

    关注健康,关爱生命。

    1. 重点:掌握本课节新学的词汇;

             能用英语询问和描述病情。

    PPT 课件,本课节的有关音频,表示疾病的图片。

    教学过程

    Step 1  Review

    Let the students have a conversation in pairs to review the feelings.

    Show the class some pictures and review the feelings. Start like this:

     

     

     

     

    A: How do you feel today?

    B: I’m not happy.

    A: What’s wrong? Are you ...?

    B: Yes, I am./ No, I’m not. I’m...

    Step 2  Presentation 

    1. Show the class some pictures and teach the new words matter, stomachache, headache, better and the expressions have a stomachache, have a headache, have a cold, had better, see a doctor, Whats the matter (with)? by using the conversation between the teacher and the class.

    T: How do they feel?

    Ss: They feel sick.

    T: Yes. What’s the matter?

    Ss: …

    T: He has a stomachache. He has a headache and he has a cold. Can we help them?

    Ss: Sorry, we cant. But they had better see a doctor.

    2. Get the students to remember the new words and expressions.

    Step 3  Listening and judging

    T: Look! Jim and Wang Mei feel sick today. Listen and write T or F.

    1. Jim’s leg hurts.                 (  )

    2. Wang Mei has a headache.            (  )

    3. Li Ming tells Wang Mei to go and see a doctor.     (  )

    Play the recording again and pause for them to check the answers.

    Step 4  Reading and answering

    Get the class to read the conversations in Part 1 and answer the questions.

    1. What’s the matter with Jim?

    2. What’s the matter with Wang Mei?

    Answers: 1. His arm hurts. 2. She has a stomachache.

    Step 5  Looking and filling

    Get the class to look at the picture and fill in the blanks. (Lets Do It! No. 2)

    Answers: arm; have

    Step 6  Reading and filling

    Get the class to read the conversations in Part 1 and fill in the blanks.

    Conversation 1

    Jenny: _______________, Jim? Are you __________?

    Jim: See my arm? It _______!

    Jenny: It _____ bad! Let’s __________ a doctor.

    Conversation 2

    Li Ming: _______________, Wang Mei?

    Wang Mei: Aaah, I feel __________. I have a ______________.

    Li Ming: You’d better ___________ a doctor, Wang Mei.

    Answers:

    Conversation 1: How do you feel; OK; hurts; looks; go and see

    Conversation 2: Are you OK; sick; stomachache; go and see

    Step 7  Reading and acting

    1. Get the class to read the conversations in Part 1 following the recording together.

    2. Act them out in pairs.

    Step 8  Presentation

    1. Show the class the pictures and teach the new word medicine and the phrases take/have the medicine, stay home, have a rest by saying:

    Look! This is the medicine. If you feel sick, you should take/have the medicine. You should stay home and have a rest, too.

     

     

     

     

     

     

    2. Get the students to remember the new word and expressions.

    Step 9  Listening and answering (Part 2)

    Play the recording for the class to listen and answer the question.

    What’s the matter with Danny?

    Answer: He feels sick and very cold. He has a headache and he has a cold.

    Step 10  Reading and filling

    1. Get the class to read the conversation in Part 2 and fill in the blanks. (Lets Do It! No. 2)

    Answers: have; take/have

    2. Get the class to read the conversation again and fill in the blanks.

      Dr. Green: Hi, Danny. What’s the _______ ?

    Danny: I feel ______. I have a headache.

    Dr. Green: Do you feel cold?

    Danny: Yes! I feel ________. Aachoo!!

    Dr. Green: Well, Let me see… You have a cold. Take this _______. ________ and ________________.

    Danny: OK. Thank you, Doctor Green.

      Answers: matter; sick; very cold; medicine; Stay home; have a good rest

    Step 11  Reading and acting

    1. Get the class to read the conversation in Part 2 following the recording together.

    2. Act it out in pairs.

    Step 12  Exercises

    Complete the dialogue with the sentences in the box. (Lets Do It! No. 3)

    Doctor: Hi, Sam. ________________

    Sam: I don’t feel well.

    Doctor: ______________________

    Sam: No, I don’t have a headache.

    Doctor: Do you feel cold?

    Sam: ____________________

    Doctor: ____________________________ Take this medicine. Stay home and have a rest.

    Sam: OK. Thank you, doctor.

    Step 13  Making up a dialogue

    Work in pairs. Make up a dialogue about seeing a doctor. (Lets Do It! No. 4)

    Possible version:

    Doctor: Hi, young man. Whats the matter?

    A: Oh, I hurt my head.

    Doctor: Do you have a headache?

    A: Yes, I do.

    Doctor: Let me see. Oh, not serious. Take this medicine. Stay home and have a good rest.

    A: OK. Thanks a lot, Doctor.

    Select some pairs to make up a dialogue in front of the class.

    Step 14  Summary

    Step 15  Language points

    1. I have a stomachache. 我胃痛。

      have a(n) +疾病 患某种病

      have a stomachache 胃痛        have a headache 头痛

      have a cold 感冒               have a fever 发烧

      have a sore throat 喉咙痛        have a toothache牙痛

      have a sore back = have a backache 背痛    

    2. You’d better go and see a doctor, Wang Mei.

      你最好去看医生,王梅。

      (1) had better do sth. 最好做某事。用来表示对别人的劝告、建议或一种愿望。其否定形式为had better not do sth.(最好不要做某事)。had better可缩写为’d better

      You’d better go home at once. 你最好立刻回家。

      You’d better not do that. 你最好不要那样做。

      (2) see a doctor 看医生。相当于go to a/the doctor(去看医生)

      She looks bad. She’d better see a doctor.

    她看上去气色不好,她最好去看医生。

    3. What’s the matter? 怎么了?

      What’s the matter (with…)? (……)出什么事?/……)怎么了?

      相当于What’s wrong(with…)?。可用于询问不好的事或医生询问病人。

      What’s the matter with Tom? = What’s wrong with Tom? 汤姆怎么了?

    4. Take this medicine. 服这药。

      medicine n.

      表示内服药时,常为不可数名词。表示各种各样的药时,为可数名词。

      take/have the medicine服药

    medicine for+疾病  ……的药

      Do you find my medicine? 你找到我的药了吗?

      Take the medicine and you will be better. 服了这药,你会好点儿。

    5. Stay home and have a good rest. 待在家里,好好休息。

      (1) stay home 待在家里(此处home为副词)。待在家里”还可表示为

      stay at home,此处home为名词。

      Because of the COVID-19, the people in some places must stay (at) home.

      因为新冠肺炎,一些地方的人必须待在家里。

      (2) rest

      n. 休息

    have a (good) rest (好好) 休息

      I’m very tired. I want to have a good rest. 我很累。我想好好休息一下。

      v. 休息;使休息

      Let’s rest now. 咱们现在休息吧。

      You’d better rest your hands. 你最好放松一下你的手。
