    设计说明
    本课时通过速读、细读和读后分角色表演等活动, 使学生理解课文内容。通过要求学生读Grammar Focus的句子, 总结出该单元的语法内容——使役动词make的用法。通过讲解和对应的练习, 让学生掌握使役动词make的运用。最后, 通过当堂达标, 学生可自我检验自己的学习情况, 以便查漏补缺。
    教学目标
    通过本课时的教学, 让学生达成以下目标:
    1. 知识目标
    (1)掌握本课时新单词及短语: king, power, prime, minister, banker, fame, pale, queen, examine, nor, neither…nor…, palace, wealth, to start with, grey, lemon, uncomfortable, prime minister, call in。
    (2)掌握重点句子:
    ①Neither medicine nor rest can help him.
    ②What he needs is the shirt of a happy person to wear.
    ③Although I have a lot of power, it doesn’t make me happy.
    2. 能力目标
    (1) 能读懂关于情绪的文章。
    (2) 能运用所学词汇和句型表达情绪变化及原因。
    3. 情感目标
    保持健康的情绪, 学会及时疏导不良情绪, 做情绪的主人。
    重点难点
    重点: 掌握重点单词、短语及句子
    难点: 使役动词make的用法

    PPT课件;3a的录音;课文中不同角色的图片

    教学过程
    Step 1 Lead-in
    1. Ask the students to work in pairs and discuss the following question.
    What can make you happy?
    2. Show some pictures to help them answer the question.

    Step 2 Warm-up
    1. Show the following picture.

    2. Ask the students to answer the questions:
    Who is the man? Do you think he is happy?
    3. Let them guess what the passage on page 83 is about.
    Step 3 Presentation
    Listening
    Ask the students to listen to the recording and find the answers to the given questions.
    Answers:
    He is a king with power, money and fame. He is not happy.
    Fast reading
    1. Ask the students to read the passage quickly and find the answer to the following question.
    What’s the main idea of the passage?
    A. The prime minister and the king.
    B. The meaning of happiness.
    C. A happy king.
    2. Teach them some strategies:
    (1) Look through the passage quickly to find the main idea without having to read every word.
    (2) Pay attention to the first or the last sentence of each paragraph before you read the whole text.
    Answer:

    Careful reading
    Ask the students to read the story and answer the questions.
    1. Can medicine help the king? Why or why not?
    2. Why does power not make the prime minister happy?
    3. Why does money not make the banker happy?
    4. Why does fame not make the singer happy?
    Answers:
    1. No, it can’t. Because there is nothing wrong with his body. The problem is in his mind and no medicine can help him.
    2. Because he is always worried about losing his power and many people are trying to take his position.
    3. Because he is always worried about losing his money and someone tries to steal his money every day.
    4. Because he is always worried about being followed by others, so he cannot be free.
    Post-reading
    Let the students find words or phrases from the story with meanings similar to these phrases.

    Step 4 Role-play
    1. Ask the students to read aloud the passage in 3a.
    2. Ask the students to role-play the story in groups.
    3. Choose some of them to show their performance in the front of the classroom.
    4. Correct the mistakes. And give them some suggestions.
    Step 5 Language points
    1. He slept badly and didn’t feel like eating. 他睡不好觉并且不想吃东西。
    feel like doing sth. 意为“想要做某事”, 相当于want to do sth./would like
    to do sth.。此处的like为介词, 意为“相似; 类似; 像”。
    I feel like going out for a walk.
    = I want to go out for a walk.
    = I would like to go out for a walk.
    我想出去散散步。
    【拓展】feel like的其他意思: 摸起来像……; 感觉像(是) ……
    It feels like silk. 它摸起来像丝绸。
    2. Neither medicine nor rest can help him. 吃药或休息都对他没用。
    neither...nor...意为“既不……也不……”, 通常连接两个相同的句子成分, 用于否定两者。
    She has neither time nor money. 她既没时间又没钱。
    He neither came in nor went out. 他既不进来也不出去。
    【注意】当neither...nor...连接两个成分作主语时, 其谓语动词要与相临的成分在人称和数上保持一致, 即遵循“就近原则”。
    Neither he nor I am a worker. 他和我都不是工人。
    3. Many people are trying to take my position. 许多人在试图取代我的位置。
    (1) try to do sth. 与try doing sth.
    try to do sth.
    试图做某事, 尽力做某事
    表示想尽一切办法把事情办成
    try doing sth.

    表示一种尝试
    She tried to carry the basket. 她努力提起这个篮子。
    The boy tried making a model plane. 这个男孩尝试着制作一个飞机模型。
    (2) take one’s position意为“取代某人的位置”,相当于take one’s place或take the place of sb.。
    The boss made Jerry take Jack’s position. 老板让杰瑞取代杰克的位置。
    Step 6 Grammar Focus
    The loud music makes me nervous (使我紧张).
    Soft and quiet music makes me relax (使我放松).
    Money and fame don’t always make people happy (使人们快乐).
    She said that the sad movie made her cry (使她哭泣).

    1. Ask the students to do the following exercises.
