Pet owners are now encouraged to take their pets to Nantou Ancient Town, as the site is holding a month-long event called “Hi there, friends” with the purpose of building a pet-friendly community and increase the public concern for animal welfare(福利). A total of 16 stores and institutions have joined in the event, which will end on June 18, to welcome little animals inside.
“Pet-friendly” has now become a hot term in Shenzhen, which is becoming one of the most livable cities for dogs. Pet owners long for more open spaces and events for their furry friends.

My home is in Demonton near a river valley. It is a beautiful area that has been made into a park with meters of hiking trails(小路)along the river.
One day I discovered a trail I had never seen before. It was extremely steep and very slippery as it was covered with ice. I was alone at the time and even though I was terrified, I still wanted to go for a walk. Just this thought made my heart beat faster. I shook, not from the cold, although it was probably around -15°C, but from the fear I knew I had to do it.
I moved forward slowly and put one foot on the trail, then the other. Then I continued, one foot in front of the other. I went very slowly down the trail, shaking with every step. I was sweating despite my cold. I had no idea how long it would take me to travel along the trail, but I didn’t care. I just wanted to conquer my fear.
At last, I succeeded! At least that’s how I felt. I nearly ran down the trail. Well, not exactly ran, but it felt like that compared with my extremely slow speed in the beginning.
Maybe you don’t think this is much of a story, but I just want to tell you that we never know what’s around the corner. If you compare this story to life, you’ll see that we have no idea where life is going to take us, or how many easy or difficult trails there are to choose from until we make a choice! By drawing patterns on the surface of a cup of tea, Chabaixi, an ancient Chinese tea trick shown in a recent TV drama, has gone viral for it is similar to modern latte art(咖啡拉花艺术). But when they were talking about the plan in the study last night, their mother heard all the details”可知这几天,比尔和安娜正在为他们的母亲准备一个惊喜派对来庆祝她的生日。
33.根据“My sister always takes my things without telling me. What’s worse, she always practises playing the piano when I am studying”可知我姐姐总是瞒着我拿东西。
34.根据“Jennifer is so popular and well-known in her school that almost everyone in her school knows about her”可知詹妮弗在学校里很受欢迎,很有名,几乎学校里的每个人都知道她,选项E“习语‘小池之鱼’用来形容一个人比一小群人拥有更多的知识、经验、影响力或权力的情况”符合。故选E。
35.根据“Although Jessica’s parents knew that Jessica was feeling sad about failing the Chinese exam again, but they still compared her with her best friend who did well in the exam”可知尽管杰西卡的父母知道杰西卡对再次语文考试不及格感到难过,但他们仍然把她和她最好的朋友进行了比较,后者在考试中表现出色,选项A“当某人说了一些他/她不该说的话时,我们用“冒犯别人”这个习语来指代他/她所做的事情。 故选A。

根据“how to go...to stay or what to eat”可知是指住在哪里,应用where“在哪里”,故填where。
    46.例文
