    Module 7  My past life

    Unit 1  I was born in a small village.

    设计说明

    教师通过介绍自己(出生日期,自己的第一位老师,第一所小学,第一个朋友等),很自然地导入新课;通过自学、小组合作等方式学习新单词,加深记忆。通过听说训练,让学生逐步理解和掌握一般过去时be动词的用法;通过设置不同的阅读任务,培养学生在阅读中抓住细节信息的能力;通过表演对话及做报告的训练,达到学生学以致用的目的。

    教学目标

    通过本单元的教学,让学生达成以下目标:

    1.知识目标:

    掌握本单元单词和短语:born, strict, friendly, primary, primary school, town, US, hey, village, nice, good, difficult

    2.能力目标

    (1)谈论自己的第一所学校、第一位老师和第一个同学;

    (2)能初步运用句型Where/When were you born?”“I was born in...”进行问答。

    3.情感目标:

    通过听说训练,增加对同学的了解,增进同学间纯真的友谊。

    重点难点

    重点:掌握含有be动词的一般过去时的句式结构。

    难点:be动词的过去式was/were

    教学准备

    PPT课件;活动1、2、3、5的录音。

    教学过程

    Step 1  Warming up

    1. Introduce yourself to the students.

    T: My name is I was born inon My first school wasMy first teacher wasMy first friend was

    Can you tell me something about your first school?

    2. Lead the students to talk about their first schools.

    Step 2  New words and expressions

    1. Teach the students the new words and expressions. And then correct their pronunciation in groups.

    born adj. (动词bear的过去分词)出生

    strict adj.严格的严厉的

    be strict with sb.对某人要求严格

    be strict about sth.对某事要求严格

    friendly adj.友好的  be friendly to sb.对某人友好

    primary adj.初等的初级的

    primary school小学

    town n.城镇市镇

    US 美国

    hey  int.

    village n.村庄

    nice adj.友好的亲切的

    good adj.乖的守规矩的

    difficult  adj.难对付的

    2. Read the words and expressions in groups.

    Step 3  Listening

    1. Listen and number the questions in Activity 1.And then check the answers.

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

    2. Now answer the questions above. Use the words and expressions from the box.

     

     

    Answers:

    a) Ms Smith.

    b) It wasn’t a big school and it was very friendly.

    c) I was born in Quincy, a small town in the US.

    d) Yes, she was, but she was also very nice.

    3. Ask the students to ask and answer in pairs using the sentences in Activity 1.

      A: Who was your first teacher?

    B: My first teacher was Ms Smith.

    A: What was your first school like?

    B: It wasn’t a big school and …

    4. Listen again and check (√ ) the true sentences in Activity 2. And then check the answers.

     1 Betty was born in the US. √

    2 Betty was born in a small town. √

    3 Betty’s first school was a big school.

    4 There were twenty-two students in Betty’s class.

    5 Betty’s first teacher was strict. √

    Step 4  Listening and reading

    1. Let students read questions first and then ask them to read Activity 3 and choose the correct answers.

    2. Let the students look through the table in Activity 4.

    3. Guide them to fill in the table according to the passage.

    4. Check the answers in groups.

    Answers:

    5. Play the recording for the students. Ask them to read the conversation by themselves.                                                                                                                                                                                                               

    6. Find out the phrases in the conversation and translate them into Chinese.

    (1)be born     出生

    (2)the name of  ……的名字

    (3)in England   在英格兰

    (5)in a small village  在一个小村庄

    (6)in Shanxi Province  在山西省

    (7)a small city 一座小城市

    (8)your first school  你的第一所学校

    7. Ask some of the students to act out the conversation.

    Step 5  Language points

    1. Where were you born?你出生在哪里? 

    be born意为出生,通常用于一般过去时态,即was/were born

    born是动词bear的过去分词。

    —When and where were you born? 你出生在何时何地?

    —I was born in a small city in Shandong Province in 2006.

    2006年出生在山东省的一个小城市。

    They were born on the 15th of March, 2001.他们出生在2001年的315日。

    2. She was strict but very nice. 她很严格,但是人很好。

    strict形容词,意为严格的,可在句中作表语或定语。

    常用短语: be strict with sb.对某人要求严格

    be strict about (doing) sth.()某事要求严格

    He was very strict with his students.他对他的学生非常严格。

    They are strict about (doing) their work.他们对工作严格要求。

    3. She was very friendly. 她非常友好。

    friendly形容词,意为友好的,名词形式是friend,意为朋友 

    be friendly to sb.意为对某人友好

    Everyone here is friendly to us.这儿的每个人对我们都很友好。

    4. What were they like?他们是什么样的人? 

    What+ be动词+ sb. +like?意为某人怎么样?是一个询问某人的性格、品质特征的句型。

    What is Jenny like?珍妮是一个怎样的人?

    —She is very kind.她很友好。

    5. He was quite difficult. 他相当难管。 

    (1) quite副词,意如十分;相当,常用于修饰形容词、副词或动词,表示程度。

    She is quite tall with short hair.她个子很高,留着短发。

    (2) difficult形容词,意为难对付的,多用于修饰人;指物时意为困难的

    The old woman is difficult. 这个老太太难以对付。

    It’s difficult work. 这是很难完成的工作。

    Step 6  Pronunciation and speaking

    1. Listen and notice the stressed words.

    1 ―I was born there.

    ―No, you weren’t.

    2 ―You weren’t born in Cambridge.

    ―Yes, I was.

    3 ―They were born in China.

    ―No, they weren’t.

    4 ―He was a teacher.

    ―No, he wasn’t.

    5 ―She was strict.

    ―No, she wasn’t.

    2. Ask the students to listen and repeat.

    3. Work in pairs. Ask and answer the questions about their past life

    1 Where were you born?

    2 What was the name of your primary school?

    3 Who was your first teacher?

    4 What was he/she like?

    5 Who were your first friends?

    6 What were they like?

    7 What was your favourite subject?

    8 How many students were there in your class?

    4. Let some of the students give a report about their past life.

    Step 7  Homework

    1. Read the conversation.

    2. Write a passage about your past life.
