探究二： 知识点解读

1.They go out of their way to make me feel at home.

 (1) go out of one's way to do sth. 特地（ 不怕麻烦地）做某事；竭力地做某事

  (2) make sb. feel at home使某人感到宾至如归；无拘无束

2.My biggest challenge is learning how to behave at the dinner table.

behave不及物动词，“表现；行为”，behave well / badly “表现好/糟糕”。behave as if / as though“表现得好像……”。behave + adv. + towards / to sb. “以……方式对待某人”。behave oneself  “表现得体；有礼貌”。

3．Another example is you’re not supposed to eat anything with your hands except bread, not even fruit .

 except做介词，意为“除……之外”，后接名词、代词、介词短语、副词、带to的不定式，表示把某人或某物排除出某一范围，即不包含在内。 but 与except 同义，如果句中有no one, nobody, nothing, all, everyone, everything, 多用but。

4．I have to say,  I find it difficult to remember everything,  but I’m gradually getting used to things and don’t find them so strange any more.

（1）在 I find it difficult to remember . . . 句中，it是形式宾语，真正的宾语是后面的动词不定式短语to remember everything。其句型结构为：find+ it + adj. + to do sth. 。类似用法的动词还有：think,  believe, know,  feel等。

（2）be/get used to 意为“习惯于……”, 后接名词、代词或动名词

【背景知识】西方文化习俗点滴

(1)守时 (Punctuality)

        英美人一般都很守时。若和别人有约会，都会按时到达，不提前，也不拖后。他们认为过早抵达，可能会占用主人的时间而造成许多不便；迟到，则会使其他人等得过久而抱怨。所以，万一不能赴约或不能准时赴约，他们就会有礼貌地尽早通知主人。

(2) 席间礼节 (Manners at table)

      在宴会上行为举止要得体，否则就是失礼，会被人认为没有教养。在宴席上不可用餐巾擦刀、叉等器皿；不要把汤匙放在汤碗中。在餐桌上不要服用任何药物。口中食物太多时，不要和别人讲话。在众人面前，不得使用牙签等。
