M: Can’t find your car keys? Forget your grocery list? Can’t remember the name of the personal trainer you liked at the gym? You’re not alone. There’s no need to worry. Everyone forgets things occasionally. Still, memory loss is nothing to take lightly.
Although there are no guarantees when it comes to preventing memory loss, certain activities might help. Consider the following simple ways to sharpen your memory.
Include Physical Activity in Your Daily Routine
Physical activity increases blood flow to your whole body, including your brain. This might help keep your memory sharp.
    Stay Mentally Active
Just as physical activity helps keep your body in shape, mentally stimulating activities help keep your brain in shape—and might keep memory loss at bay. Do crossword puzzles. Take alternate routes when driving. Volunteer at a local school or community organization.
    Socialize Regularly
Social interaction helps ward off depression and stress. Look for opportunities to get together with loved ones, friends and others-especially if you live alone.
    Sleep Well
Sleep plays an important role in helping you consolidate your memories, so you can recall them down the road. Make getting enough sleep a priority.
    Eat a Healthy Diet
A healthy diet might be as good for your brain as it is for your heart. Eat fruits, vegetables and whole grains. What you drink counts, too. Too much alcohol can lead to confusion and memory loss.

    A
In an age when our phones are also our wallet, watch and GPS, I expect intelligent, multi-tasking efficiency from everyday skincare as well, especially SPF(sun-protection factor).
    About Sunscreens
■Wear SPF daily. It helps protect against not only sunburn but also almost 80 percent of the skin and ageing problems. Meanwhile, remember to prevent skin from drying after the use of sunscreen since skin needs moisture (水分).
■Choose an SPF number based on length of time in the sun and the intensity of the sunlight. SPF30 lets about three percent of UVB ray s through;SPF50 about two percent.
■Understand the difference between chemical (or “organic”) and mineral (or “inorganic” physical) sunscreens. Chemical sunscreens tend to be more lightweight and less oily, which absorb UV light (紫外线). Their composition causes a reaction where light is changed into heat and then gone. Mineral sunscreens, meanwhile, act like a barrier. Active ingredients protect from UV rays, and sit on the surface of the skin, reflecting the sun’s rays. These are generally thicker in property and can leave a white cast.
    Application tips
■Apply enough:about a shot glass for the whole body and about a quarter teaspoon (1.25ml) each for face and neck. No less for high SPF.
■Apply at least 20 minutes earlier before heading outside and reapply every two hours (more if you are swimming or sweating).
■Don’t miss the hairline, ears, front and back of neck.
■Make-up with SPF is not enough for sun protection. Layer it on top of sunscreen.
    21. What is one of the benefits of wearing sunscreens daily?
    A. Protecting against sun damage. B. Solving skin problems entirely.
    C. Relieving all the aging problems. D. Keeping skin from losing water.
    22. Which statement about sunscreens is acceptable?
    A. Sunscreens with a higher SPF let more rays through.
    B. Chemical sunscreens work by blocking the sun light.
    C. Mineral sunscreens prevent the skin from absorbing the sun rays.
    D. Mineral sunscreens are more lightweight than chemical sunscreens.
    23. Which of the following can be a suitable way to apply sunscreens?
    A. Go outside 25 minutes later after applying sunscreens.
    B. Choose an SPF number as high as possible.
    C. Altogether put a quarter teaspoon on your face and neck.
    D. Wear make-up with SPF alone to protect yourself from the sun.
A 22. C 23. A
根据About Sunscreens中第一点的“It helps protect against not only sunburn but also almost 80 percent of the skin and ageing problems. (它不仅可以防止晒伤,还可以防止80%的皮肤和衰老问题。)”可知,防晒霜可以防止皮肤被晒伤。A 选项中damage“损伤”与文中的sunburn“晒伤”意思相近,故选A。
    22. 细节理解题。根据 About Sunscreens中第三点的“Mineral sunscreens, meanwhile, act like a barrier. Active ingredients protect from UV rays, and sit on the surface of the skin, reflecting the sun’s rays.(与此同时,矿物防晒霜起到了屏障的作用。活性成分保护皮肤免受紫外线照射,并在皮肤表面反射太阳光。)”可知,矿物防晒霜可阻止皮肤吸收紫外线。故选C。
    23. 细节理解题。根据 Application tips中的第二点的“Apply at least 20 minutes earlier before heading outside and reapply every two hours (more if you are swimming or sweating).(出门前至少提前20分钟涂抹防晒霜,每两小时补一次(如果你在游泳或出汗的话,需要补一次)。)” 故选A。
    B
Everyone needs a healthy diet plan. This is especially important when we are first making the change to a new food lifestyle. 1 say lifestyle, because diets just don't work. You will always find yourself struggling as long as you think of your eating habits based on a diet rather than a lifestyle.
What you eat will be determined from what you believe about health and nutrition. If you believe there is no connection between health and the food you eat, you will eat whatever "tastes right" to you, no matter what it is doing to your health. However, if you believe that the human body is an unbelievable self-healing (自愈的)machine that only requires the right fuel (nutrition) to maintain health, then you will choose your foods thus.
A healthy diet plan must be based on what is best for your body. If you are concerned about your taste buds(味蕾),don't worry they will catch up. They have likely been programmed to think they want fats and salts. It may be hard for you to imagine doing without all those processed foods you've been eating. But it won't be long after you start following a healthy diet plan that your taste buds will long for what is really good for you.
It will take some time for your body to acclimate to your new diet plan, just as developing any new positive habit does. But trust me, your body knows what it needs. Once you start feeding it the nutrition it requires, your body, including your taste, will respond positively.
The healthy diet plan we advise is one that includes as much whole, raw food as possible. Our personal meal planning includes a lot of raw food, whole foods and little to no animal products. Our meal plans include as many dark green and other brightly colored vegetables as possible.
The final tip I have for you as you make the change to a healthy diet meal plan is knowledge, knowledge, knowledge. Having the right knowledge will be one of your keys to success.
    24. What should we change first to have a healthy diet plan?
    A. Our lifestyle. B. Our eating habits.
    C. Our taste buds. D. Our ways of thinking.
    25. What does the author expect us to do according to Paragraph 2?
    A. Eat whatever tastes right. B. Take foods for your health.
    C. Exercise on a regular basis. D. Eat foods rich in fats and salts.
    26. What can we infer from the passage about our taste buds?
    A. They will stick to what we are used to eating.
    B. They will become weak if we change our diet.
    C. They can only respond to refined foods.
    D. They can change with our diet plan.
    27. What does the underlined phrase " acclimate to" in Paragraph 4 probably mean?
    A. Object to. B. Get used to.
    C. Survive from. D. Get over.
A 25. B 26. D 27. B
根据第一段最后一句话“You will always find yourself struggling as long as you think of your eating habits based on a diet rather than a lifestyle.(只要你认为你的饮食习惯是基于规定饮食而不是生活方式,你就会发现自己在挣扎)”可知,只有先改变生活方式才可能改变饮食习惯。故选A。
根据第二段第二句“If you believe there is no connection between health and the food you eat, you will eat whatever "tastes right" to you no matter what it is doing to your body.(如果你相信健康和你所吃的食物之间没有任何联系,那么你就会吃任何“吃起来很好”的食物,不管它对你的身体有什么影响)”可知,暗示这样的主张是不对的,会危害身体健康。
根据第三段第二句“If you are concerned about your taste buds, don’t worry they will catch up.(如果你担心你的味蕾,别担心,它们会赶上来的。)”
根据第四段第一句“It will take some time for your body to acclimate to your new diet plan.(你的身体需要一些时间来 你的新饮食计划)”以及第四段第三句“Once you start feeding it the nutrition it requires, your body, including your taste, will respond positively.(一旦你开始给它提供所需的营养物质,你的身体包括你的味觉就会做出积极的反应。)”
    C
How often do you exercise? A new study finds that most kids aged 12 to 15 aren't getting enough physical activity. The results are based on about 800 kids. As part of the study, the young teens tracked and reported on their own activity levels, and took physical exams.
The US fitness guidelines recommend an hour or more of physical activity every day. According to the study, only 1in 4 kids in the US get enough physical activity.
“It's certainly very worrying to see that our kids are engaging in such a limited amount of physical activity each day,” said Dr. Stephen Pont. He is an expert on children's health.
Few kids in the survey met the guidelines for physical activity that raises the heart rate and makes them breathe harder. Overall, about 25% said they got an hour of that kind of violent exercise every day. Kids also reported on which activities they did most often outside of the school gym class--basketball for boys and running for girls.
The study found that obese(肥胖的) teens were less active than normal-weight girls and boys. Overweight girls were slightly less active than normal-weight girls, but levels were similar among overweight and normal-weight boys. The study also said that the overall obesity rate for children aged 2 to 19 is 17%, or about 12.5 million kids.
“There's always room for improvement,” said health expert Tala Fakhouri, who was the lead author of the study. She also said the results provide useful information to help with fitness campaigns such as Lets Move, which was launched by Michelle Obama in 2010. To inspire kids to eat right and get in shape, Michelle visited schools and held exercise events. She also called on schools to offer regular gym classes.
The study also suggests kids who get physical education at school may get better grades.
    28. What is the result of the new study?
    A. It is important to take physical exams
    B. Most US kids don’t get enough exercise
    C. Kids should get physical activity every day
    D. 800 kids don’t get enough physical activity.
    29. What's the purpose of the campaign Let's Move?
    A. To help kids to keep fit.
    B. To hold exercise events.
    C. To offer regular gym classes.
    D. To provide useful information.
    30. According to the study, the children with enough exercise
    A. do better in their studies
    B. try their best to get in shape
    C. be more willing to help others
    D. be less active than fat children
    31. What does the underlined word “launched” in the sixth paragraph probably mean?
    A. visited B. stopped
    C. started D. improved
B 29. A 30. A 31. C
根据文章第一段第二句“A new study finds that most kids aged 12 to 15 aren't getting enough physical activity. (一项新的研究发现,大多数12到15岁的孩子没有得到足够的体育锻炼。)”和第二段最后一句“According to the study, only I in 4 kids in the US get enough physical activity.(根据这项研究,在美国只有四分之一的孩子得到了足够的体育锻炼。)”
根据文章倒数第二段“To inspire kids to eat right and get in shape, Michelle visited schools and held exercise events.(为了鼓励孩子们正确饮食和保持身材,Michelle 参观了学校并举办了锻炼活动。)”
根据最后一段“The study also suggests kids who get physical education at school may get better grades.(研究还表明,在学校接受体育教育的孩子可能会取得更好的成绩。)”
根据画线句前的句子“ She also said the results provide useful information to help with fitness campaigns such as Lets Move”可知,她还表示,研究结果为开展“让我动起来”这样的健身活动提供了有用的信息。
    D
You cannot judge a book by looking at its cover! That's what a group of parents and students in Hangzhou has found out this term.
When they came to school in September, the students were shocked to learn that their class teacher was to be a P.E. teacher. How could someone who teaches table tennis and basketball know anything about academics? Their parents were equally worried and pressured the school to replace ''Miss Muscle'' with a ''Miss Brain. '' However, the principal(校长) did not give in to the pressure and now the parents and students are happy that the school firmly insisted.
After three months, the P.E. teacher, whose name is actually Miss Su, has turned out to be a wonderful class teacher. She is intelligent, kind and helpful. She is a good leader who keeps her students active in their studies and participate in school activities. And she has won the parents over with her real caring for their children. In other words, Miss Su, the P. E. teacher, is ''pretty extraordinary. ''
The early negative reaction against Miss Su is an example of bias(偏见). A ''bias'' is wrong in thinking that has an influence on a person's opinions and decisions. For example, in business, tall men are more likely to be bosses. In the United States, anyone who is above 190 centimeters tall can expect to have a higher salary and to get more promotions than his shorter co-workers. Similarly, women have a difficult time climbing the career ladder because their bosses(mostly men!) think that women lack leadership skills and the necessary toughness to make difficult decisions. Neither of these opinions is based on facts or the talents of the individual. They're just bias.
    32. What seemed to be the parents' early reaction to Miss Su?
    A. They were excited. B. They were amazed.
    C. They were worried. D. They were interested.
    33. Why is Miss Su considered to be ''pretty extraordinary''?
    A. She is an excellent P. E. teacher.
    B. She was finally removed.
    C. She really cared about her students.
    D. The headmaster was proved to be wrong.
    34. The examples are given in the last paragraph to show .
    A. tall men are usually excellent B. people are often judged with bias
    C. opinions should be based on facts D. women lack leadership skills
    35. What's the author's attitude towards the bias?
    A. Disagreeable. B. Acceptable.
    C. Careless. D. Curious.
C 33. C 34. B 35. A
Their parents were equally worried and pressured the school to replace ''Miss Muscle'' with a ''Miss Brain. ''可知孩子的父母很担心,并给学校施压,希望用教文化科目的老师代替教体育的老师。C. They were worried.
And she has won the parents over with her real caring for their children. In other words, Miss Su, the P. E. teacher, is ''pretty extraordinary. '' (她用对孩子们的关爱赢得了家长的信任,换句话说,体育老师Miss Su是一个卓越的老师)可知因为苏老师对孩子的关爱,家长们认为她是一个卓越的老师。C. She really cared about her students.
B. people are often judged with bias
Neither of these opinions is based on facts or the talents of the individual. They're just bias. A.

D 37. E 38. G 39. C 40. A
    36. 根据上文“Weight loss is a hard topic. Lots of people aren't satisfied with their present weight, but most people aren't sure how to change it. You may want to look like the models or actors in magazines or on TV, but those goals might not be healthy or realistic for you.(减肥是一个很难的话题。
    37. 根据下文“The best way to find out if you are at a healthy weight or if you need to lose or gain weight is to talk to a doctor or dietitian.(要想知道你的体重是否健康,或者你是否需要减重或增重,最好的方法是咨询医生或营养师)”可知,第三段主要在讲听取营养专家的意见,找到一个有利于你健康的体重,而不是随意地减肥。
    38. 前文“The best way to find out if you are at a healthy weight or if you need to lose or gain weight is to talk to a doctor or dietitian.(要想知道你的体重是否健康,或者你是否需要减重或增重,最好的方法是咨询医生或营养师)”谈到征求营养专家的意见,后文“If it turns out that you can benefit from weight loss then you can follow a few of the simple suggestions listed below to get started.( 如果结果你可以从减肥中获益,那么你可以按照下面列出的一些简单的建议来开始)”说“如果结果……”,因此推断第3空肯定是一个医生或者营养师给出的检查措施。
    39. 根据后文“People who lose weight quickly by crash (速成的) dieting or other extreme measures usually gain back all of the pounds they lost, because they haven't permanently changed their habits. Therefore, the best weight management ways are those that you can maintain for a lifetime.(通过快速节食或其他极端措施快速减肥的人通常会把他们减掉的体重全部反弹回来,因为他们并没有永久地改变他们的习惯。因此,最好的体重管理方法是那些你可以维持一辈子的方法)”可知,后文提到了快速节食或其他极端措施快速减肥的弊端,强调了最好的体重管理方法是那些你可以维持一辈子的方法,换句话说,体重管理关乎长期的成功。故C选项“体重管理关乎长期的成功”符合语境,故选C。
    40. 根据上文“Small changes are a lot easier to stick with than large ones. Try reducing the size of what you eat.(小的改变比大的改变更容易坚持。试着减少你所吃东西的份量)”可知,空处前文“Once you have that done, start gradually introducing healthier foods and exercise into your life.( 一旦你做到了这一点,开始逐渐引入更健康的食物和进入你的生活锻炼。)” 故选A。

Should young people get plastic surgery?
Recently, plastic surgery hospitals have sprung up all over the society. Many people, especially young people, are keen on cosmetic surgery. In this regard, I want to express my views.
First of all, I don’t agree with the social trend that young people go for cosmetic surgery, because it promotes the bad influence of judging by appearance. Secondly, according to the news about the death caused by cosmetic surgery in recent years, a large number of irregular plastic surgery hospitals in the society cannot guarantee the life safety of young people. Finally, I think true beauty comes from the heart. No matter how beautiful the appearance of an ugly person is, it cannot make up for the lack of inner beauty.
Therefore, I hope young people should make a careful decision when choosing cosmetic surgery.【

It was a sunny afternoon when Alice found herself wandering lost in a busy city. Feeling overwhelmed and confused, she couldn’t find her way back to her hotel. With despair in her eyes, she stood on a crowded street corner, searching for help. Just when Alice was about to give up hope, a friendly face appeared in the crowd. It was an elderly gentleman named Mr. Johnson. Sensing her distress, he approached Alice and kindly asked if he could be of assistance. Grateful for his offer, Alice explained her situation. Mr. Johnson listened attentively and reassured her that he knew the way to her hotel. Without hesitation,he insisted on accompanying her to ensure she reached her destination safely.
As they walked together, Mr. Johnson engaged in cheerful conversation, gently distracting Alice from her anxious thoughts. His warm demeanor and genuine concern put her at ease, as if they were old friends. Along the way, he pointed out landmarks and shared interesting tidbits about the city. After a short walk, they arrived at the hotel. Alice thanked Mr. Johnson profusely, her gratitude pouring out in every word. But instead of accepting her thanks, he simply smiled and said, “Helping someone in need is its own reward.”
With those words, Mr. Johnson bid Alice farewell and continued on his way. His selflessness had made a profound impact on Alice’s heart, inspiring her to pay his kindness forward.
Days turned into weeks, and Alice found herself constantly on the lookout for opportunities to help others. Whether it was offering directions to lost tourists or lending a hand to someone struggling with heavy bags, Alice became known as the “kind stranger”in her community.
One day, while walking through a park, Alice noticed a young girl sitting alone on a bench, tears streaming down her face. Without hesitation, she approached the girl and asked if she needed someone to talk to. They began a heartfelt conversation, and Alice soon discovered that the girl, Emily, was feeling lost and lonely.
    注意:
    1.续写词数应为150左右;
    2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

After constantly paying her kindness forward, Alice was lost in thought.
    _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Drawing experience from herself, Alice shared stories of kindness with Emily. She assured Emily that there were good people in the world who cared. Inspired by the memory of Mr. Johnson, Alice offered a listening ear and a comforting presence for the young girl, reminding her that she was not alone. As Emily opened up, a newfound sense of hope began to blossom in her heart, knowing that acts of kindness were not limited to a few individuals. They both agreed to embark on a mission to share these stories, spreading the message of compassion and restoring faith in humanity.
After constantly paying her kindness forward, Alice was lost in thought. Alice realized that her encounter with Mr. Johnson had not only changed her life but had also positively impacted the lives of others. In the end, what started as a simple act of kindness from a stranger had turned into a beautiful journey of compassion and friendship. Alice, Emily and the memory of Mr. Johnson continued to inspire acts of goodness and spread kindness throughout their community.【解析】本文以人物为线索展开,讲述了爱丽丝在一个繁忙的城市里迷路了,幸好,她遇到了约翰逊先生,他带她安全地回到了旅馆,他的无私对爱丽丝的心产生了深远的影响,激励她把他的善意传递出去,她一直寻找帮助别人的机会,有一天,她在公园里散步时遇到了艾米丽,在交谈中她发现了艾米丽的迷茫和孤独。
