    Levine and his research team selected vlunteers aged between 45 and 64 wh didnt exercise much but were therwise healthy. Participants were randmly divided inttw grups. The first grup participated in a prgram f nnaerbic(无氧)exercise—balance training and weight training—three times a week. The secnd grup did high-intensity aerbic exercise under the guidance f a trainer fr fur r mre days a week. After tw years, the secnd grup saw remarkable imprvements in heart health.
    "We tk these 50-year-ld hearts and turned the clck back t 30-r 35-year-ld hearts," says Levine. "And the reasn they gt s much strnger and fitter was that their hearts culd nw fill a lt better and pump(泵送)a lt mre bld duringexercise."But the hearts f thse wh participated in less intense exercise didn'tchange, he says.
