Matthew Lng and his team frm University Cllege Lndn studied the left hands f100 peple. With their hands placed palms dwn under a bard, Lng’s team gave the instructin t pint t their knuckles (关节) and fingertips with a marker. Hw did they d? Nt that well.

“It is cnnected t ur sense f psitin,” explained Lng. Humans knw where different parts f ur bdies are, even if we can’t see them. “It tells us whether a jint (关节) is straight r nt,” said Lng. “We als need t knw the distances between ur jints,” he went n. Our brains knw the sizes and shapes f ur bdies frm the maps they make fr themselves. “This experiment tried t find thse maps,” he said.
Maybe maps dn’t need t be perfect. But why aren’t ur brains mre accurate? Lng said ur brains “see” areas based n ur sense f tuch, with the strnger the sense f tuch in a specific bdy part, the bigger that bdy part seems. An example is ur lips. As they have mre nerves (神经) than ur nses, ur brain’s map shws ur lips are bigger. The same thing can happen with bdy parts that have a lt f nerves. If yu’ve ever had smething stuck in yur teeth, it prbably felt huge! That’s because ur tngues als have lts f nerves.

D.Peple did best pinting at the psitin f knuckles.
9.Why d ur lips seem bigger than ur nses?
A.Our lips have a mre imprtant functin than ur nses.
B.There are mre nerves in ur nses than in ur lips.
C.Our mental map must prefer the lip t the nse.
D.Our sense f tuch in ur lips is much strnger.
10.What cnclusin can we draw abut the experiment?
A.Peple dn’t care abut smething arund us at all.
B.Our hmetwn is t us what hands are t ur bdy.

First f all, its dwnlad speed can be as fast as 20GB/s, which is 100 t 200 times faster than that f 4G. But what’s mre impressive is 5G’s lw delay rate. Nw, 4G takes an average f 200 millisecnds t send and receive infrmatin. But 5G will get it dwn t 1 millisecnd.
5G is a great breakthrugh (突破). It’s ging t change the way equipment cnnects t the Internet, and mre imprtantly, t each ther. And self-driving cars may be ne f the biggest breakthrughs t cme ut f 5G. Human reactin (反应) time is 200millisecnds, yet we still have accidents every day. The self-driving car under the 5G netwrk culd react and cmmunicate its reactin t hundreds f cars arund it, all within 1 millisecnd. It’ll play a great rle in preventing car accidents and cmpletely ending traffic jams.
5G can benefit us in many ther ways. Operatins culd be perfrmed by rbts cntrlled by experts frm the ther side f the wrld. Therefre, mre lives will be saved in time. Hwever, 5G is nt perfect. 5G uses the millimeter waves, while 4G uses the 15- t 40-centimeter-lng waves. And shrter waves g fast but nt very far. On the4G netwrk, the signal (信号) can g 10 kilmeters. But the 5G signal can g at mst 300 meters, and it can’t even g thrugh walls r rain. S, what des that mean? Digital maps and GPS are mdern wnders that have gtten me ut f many cnfusing places, but paper maps still have a rle t play in ur lives. Mst f us adults learned t read them ut f necessity, but it’s up t us t pass n that skill t children whse need may nt be s bvius, but wh still will benefit frm it.
As Trevr Muir wrte in an article n this tpic, “When kids learn hw t create and use paper maps, they are ding mre than just learning hw t get arund. They are actually develping a fundamental skill that they will use fr the rest f their lives. Map skill still belng in tday’s classrm.”
As a child, I had Natinal Gegraphic Maps taped t my bedrm walls. This arused my curisity and imaginatin abut thse places and thus made me eager t remember my gegraphy and histry lessns because they were tied t places I’d “seen”. Even nw as a mther f fur, I’ve als spared time t travel t many f the cuntries whse maps I studied as a child.
Additinally, in this fast-changing wrld, unexpected events can rapidly influence ne’s usual way f life. The cmpany hpes its sftware (软件) can make exact predictins abut earthquake damage. It can tell firefighters hw t plan fr an earthquake and hw t d their jbs better when it happens.
Nicle Hu, a technlgy fficer frm One Cncern, says the key is t feed the cmputers a lt f data (数据) abut an area. The data may include infrmatin abut hmes and ther buildings, the natural envirnment, and the size f an earthquake. The cmputers then use the infrmatin t make predictins abut what wuld happen if there were an earthquake in the area. It then uses data frm past earthquakes t see whether its predictins are any gd, and changes its predictive mdels accrdingly.
Gregry Deierlein, earthquake engineer at the Stanfrd University, says ne f the mst surprising things abut the cmpany’s sftware is its ability t make use f data frm an earthquake as it’s happening, and t change its predictins in real time.
In the past, researchers wuld cllect data after an event and a few years later they’d prduce new mdels, says Deierlein. Nw the new mdels appear in a matter f minutes.
Dan Ghirs leads the Wdside Fire Prtectin District (区) near San Francisc, which cvers abut 32 square miles. He says in the past, when an earthquake hit, he’d have t make educated guesses (based n experience and training) abut what parts f this district might be badly damaged and then drive t each place t have a lk arund. He hpes One Cncerns’ sftware will change that. “Instead f driving thirty-tw square miles, in fifteen minutes n a cmputer I can get a gd idea f the damage,” he says. ‘‘Instead f me taking my educated guess, they’re putting science behind the predictive mdels.”
66.What d we knw abut the sftware’s predictins?

Its health centers will prvide hearing tests.(沃尔玛提供的非处方助听器价格从每副200美元到1000美元不等。它的健康中心将提供听力测试。)”可知不是每一个销售点都将提供听力测试,所以选项C不对。故选B项。
