This spring, Onn returned t Mnglia, amazing scientists nce again with his lng-distance flying. In just a cuple f mnths, Onn flew mre than 12,000 kilmeters. It crssed 16 cuntries, flying at an average speed f 60 kilmeters per hur.
Lng migratins are cmmn amng sea birds, but cucks are land birds. “It was ne f the lngest animal migratins which has been recrded fr a land bird,” said Chris Hewsn, ne f the prject’s lead scientists.
At times, Onn stpped fr a few hurs r a few days. But sme f the lng stretches, like crssing the Indian Ocean, had t be dne withut stpping. The birds have t travel thrugh strng winds and strms, make sure they find enugh t eat, and avid being eaten themselves.

Last mnth, tgether with Nrwegian climber Kristin Harila, Tenjen, 35 years ld, brke the previus recrd fr the fastest climb f the 8,000-meter-plus muntains. In just 92 days, they reached the final summit, K2, surpassing the previus recrd f 189 days.
Tenjen is nw preparing fr his next challenge, starting with a climb f Munt Shishapangma in China within the next tw mnths. He has already successfully climbed seven f the peaks twice and aims t cnquer the remaining seven by next spring.
His jurney began in 2016 when he first climbed Munt Dhaulagiri in Nepal. Since then, he has made several similar climbs each year, including fur trips t Munt Everest. Particularly, Tenjen and his three brthers als hld a recrd as the mst siblings t summit Munt Kanchenjunga, the wrld’s third-tallest muntain, behind Everest and K2.

Tenjen is nw preparing fr his next challenge, starting with a climb f Munt Shishapangma in China within the next tw mnths. He has already successfully climbed seven f the peaks twice and aims t cnquer the remaining seven by next spring.
His jurney began in 2016 when he first climbed Munt Dhaulagiri in Nepal. Since then, he has made several similar climbs each year, including fur trips t Munt Everest.
