    A Pair f Wild Geese
    One mrning in early fall, I nticed a pair f wild geese n ur pnd. The beautiful sight caught me by surprise, because we’d never seen geese there befre.
    I thught they wuld sn be n their way, s I seized the pprtunity t be 91 t these graceful creatures. As the days passed, my curisity abut why they were staying s lng at the pnd changed t cncern. It wuldn’t be lng befre the cld Michigan winter came and the pnd 92 ver.
    One day as they were 93 in the grass near the driveway, I discvered the reasn fr their 94 — the male had a brken left wing. He was unable t 95 , and his lifelng mate wuld nt leave him behind. I was amazed at the 96 between them. I asked a wildlife bilgist friend what I shuld d. He explained that smetimes a brken wing wuld 97 by itself and suggested letting them alne.
    On the first day f Nvember, I was wrking near the geese with my tractr. 98 I bent t fasten a chain, I nticed bth geese running tward the pnd, wings beating 99 . They lked like a cuple f planes mving fr take­ff. 100 , bth were in the air and flew ver the pnd freely. The geese then circled back tward me, flying abut 50 feet ver my 101 as if t say gdbye.
