Mr. Smith is my new teacher. He tld us sme schl rules which were different frm m frmer schl. Fr example, I must wear a unifrm and I mustn't run in the schl building But, like in Spain, I mustn't eat r drink in class, and I mustn't cheat in tests, either.
Althugh there are many rules, I like my new schl. The teachers are kind and attentive. The schl building lks excellent And I have made sme new friends in my classrm.
It was an exciting day. After schl, I gt the same rders al hme. My mther kept telling me, "Carmen, be quick! Finish yur hmewrk, and g t bed n time. " | still have t clean my rm

I went t a meeting at a high schl. At lunchtime, I saw a yung girl wh lked famillar.
I knew she had been a student f mine but I culdn't recall her name. It really made me sad,
as I have always been able t remember ld students.
Her eyes met mine and she threw her arms arund me and said,
"Mrs G, it's me, Sarah, and I'm still writing!" All the memries sn came back t my mind.
Yu see, Sarah was never a student in my classrm. Sarah's mther had left her family and her father was absent frm her life as well. She was sent t live in anther family the year I met her.
Sarah was angry, ften gt in truble and was ften in the head teacher's ffice. It was during ne f thse ffice visits that I first met her. She was writing in a ntebk with a rather angry lk n her face. I intrduced myself t her and asked her what she was writing abut.
Sarah shared her stry with me. Her writing spke t me and I knew it was gd fr her t put her thughts n paper. Every mrning at schl, she wuld cme int my classrm and we wuld wrk n her writing skills.
My experience years ag with Sarah taught me that teachers have a great influence upn their students, even when thse students are trubled. Taking the time t talk with a child has the pwer t truly change that child's life. That's why I teach.
