    Teaching Aims:

    1. Review the sentence pattern “A cat is in the box.”

    2. Can ask the location: “Where’s the cat?”

    3. Try to ask: “Where’s the orange cat?”

    4. Can describe the location like “It’s in / on/ under ..”

    5. Learn to guess the location of object with “Is it…?”

    Teaching important points:

    1. A cat is in the box.

    2. Where’s the cat?

    Teaching difficult points:

    1. Where’s the orange cat?

    Teaching Aids:

    Some cards, CD ,computerCAI

    Teaching Procedures:

    Step 1: Warming up

    1. Greeting to Ss in a song.
    2. A TPR game: Listen and do.

    T: “Stand up! Sit down! Open your book! Point to the window. Point to the door….”

    Step 2: Revision

    1. Show four cards. T: “What’s this?” / “This is …”
    2. Read the four words in high and low voice.
    3. Read fast. T: “If you know, please stand up and read it fast.”

    Step 3: Presentation

    1. T points to the wall chart and asks: “Where’s the …?” Ss answer: “It’s …”
    2. Write the two sentences on the blackboard: Where’s the cat? It’s on the bed.
    3. Read them after T in correct pronunciation and intonation.
    4. Ask several Ss to repeat. Read group by group.

    Step 4: Practice

    1. Ss ask T: “Where’s the cat?” T answer.
    2. Group 1 ask, group 2 answer from teacher’s points. Change.
    3. Practice with your partner. Show some dialogues.

    Step 5: Presentation

    1. T draws 3 pictures on the blackboard: A red pen is in the hat.

    A green pen is on the hat.  A yellow pen in under the hat.

    1. T asks: “Where’s the green pen?”…. Ss answer.
    2. Write the 2 sentences on the blackboard.
    3. Read after T.  Ask several Ss repeat it. Read group by group.

    Step 6: Practice

    1. Points to the picture, Ss ask: “Where’s the yellow pen?”… Group 1 ask and group 2 answer, then change.
    2. Practice with partner. Show your dialogue.

    Step 7: Consolidation

    1. A game: Look and guess.

    “Please look at my mouth, and guess the sentence.”

    Step 8: Homework

    Listen and read the sentence and text.

    2. Review the sentences during the chant.

    4. Understand part one.

    2. Can read part two on page three.

    Know when and how to use these sentences.

    Teaching Procedures:

    Step 1: Warming up

    1. Sing a song to greeting each other.
    2. Play a guessing game.

    “What am I saying? Please look carefully and guess.”(bear, bed, balloon, doll, desk, fox, seat...)

    1. Free talk to review some sentences.

    “Hello! How are you? Good morning! How old are you? ...”

    Step 2: Presentation

    1. A game: Hide and guess

    (T hides a pencil. Ss ask T: “Where’s the pencil?” T tells them the answer beside their ears.)

    “Look, I have a pencil. Now I hide this pencil. Where’s the pencil? Do you want to know? Please ask me.”

    1. Teacher hides a school bag, a book, and a box under the table. Then put a pen in one of them. (in the school bag, on the box, or under the book…)

    Ss try to guess the location of the pen. “Is it …?”

    Write the two sentences on the blackboard: Is it under the bed? Yes, it is.

    Read after teacher.

    Ask several students read it.

    Read fast group by group.

    Continue to play the game.

    1. A chant:

    Where’s the pencil? Where’s the pencil?

    I don’t know. I don’t know.

    Is it on the box? Is it on the box?  

    Yes, it is. Yes, it is.

    Learn and perform.

    Step 3: Listen and say  Part 1 on page 2:

    1. Listen, point and repeat.

    “Listen to the CD. Try your best to imitate its pronunciation.”

    1. Read the text again.

    (Get them know that how to read part one in their home.)

          Part 2 on page 3:

    1. Listen, point and repeat the dialogue.
    2. Read the 4 sentences after teacher again.
    3. Play a game: Hear and read fast.

    (Listen to teacher’s sentence, and then read it fast group by group.)

    1. Try to read without CD.

    Step 4: Ending

    1. Summarize the class.
    2. Home work: Listen and read part one two times.

                  Listen and read part two five times.

    1. Sing and say goodbye.
