    二、阅读理解
Are sme peple brn clever, and thers brn stupid? Or is intelligence develped by ur envirnment and ur experience? Strangely enugh, the answer t these questins is yes. T sme extent ur intelligence is given t us at birth, and n amunt f educatin can make a genius ut f a child brn with lw intelligence. On the ther hand, a child wh lives in a bring envirnment will develp his intelligence less than ne wh lives in rich and varied surrundings. Thus the limits f persn's intelligence are fixed at birth, whether r nt he reaches thse limits will depend n his envirnment. This view, nw held by mst experts, can be supprted in a number f ways.
It is easy t shw that intelligence is t sme extent smething we are brn with. The clser the bld relatinship between tw peple, the clser they are likely t be in intelligence. Thus if we take tw unrelated peple at randm frm ppulatin, it is likely that their degree f intelligence will be cmpletely different. If, n the ther hand, we take tw identical twins, they will very likely be as intelligent as each ther. Relatins like brthers and sisters, parents and children, usually have similar intelligence, and this clearly suggests that intelligence depends n birth.
Imagine nw that we take tw identical twins and put them in different envirnments. We might send ne, fr example, t a university and the ther t a factry where the wrk is bring. We wuld sn find differences in intelligence develping, and this indicates that envirnment as well as birth plays a part. This cnclusin is als suggested by the fact that peple wh live in clse cntact with each ther, but wh are nt related at all are likely t have similar degree f intelligence.
1.Which f these sentences best describes the writer's pint in Paragraph 1?
A.T sme extent, intelligence is given at birth.
B.Intelligence is develped by the envirnment.
C.Intelligence is fixed at birth, but is develped by the envirnment.
D.Sme peple are brn clever and thers brn stupid.

A.the clser the bld relatinship between peple, the mre different they are likely t be in intelligence
B.unrelated peple are nt likely t have different intelligence
C.clse relatin usually have similar intelligence
D.peple wh live in clse cntact with each ther are nt likely t have similar degrees f intelligence
    3.The phrase "at randm"(Line3, para.2) means _______ .
    A.purpsely
    B.frequently

Seeing a vlcan erupt is a wnderful experience, and yu can really feel the heat by climbing t the summit(山顶) f Pacaya fr a clse-up view. There are guided turs every day up this highly active vlcan frm Antigua, giving travelers a chance t see Mther Nature at her mst pwerful.
Pacaya is an easy drive frm Antigua, a beautiful city with many clrful huses alng its ld streets that are turned int artwrks during its Hly Week Festival. N matter when yu cme t Antigua, yu wn't miss the Pacaya-tur cmpanies.
But climbing Pacaya is n easy jb: it is 2,560 metres high, and reaching the summit takes tw t three hurs f seemingly ne-step-frward and tw-step-back mvements. As yu climb, yu hear the dull sunds f eruptins high abve. Steaming, ht remains frm recent eruptins begin t line the path as yu near the active summit: the McKenney Cne(火山锥). Just as thugh yu are ging t walk ver t the edge f the cne, the rad turns t the left and up t the relative safety f the ld, inactive summit.
Many turs are timed s that yu arrive at the cne f the vlcan in plenty f time fr sunset and the full cntrast between the erupting red lava and the darkening sky. On a gd day the view frm the summit is extremely exciting. The active muth bils, sending red lava ver its sides, and nce in a while shts ht streams up t 100 metres int the air. There is a strng bad smell in the air even if yu take care t be upwind f the cne. As evening turns deeper int the night, the burning lava quietly falls dwn the side f the vlcan. Fr yu, t, it is time t get dwn.
