1. Hi, would you like to come to my birthday party? 你好，你愿意来我的生日聚会吗？

Would you like…? 常用来向对方提出有礼貌的请求、邀请等，意为“你 (们) 想要/ 愿意……吗？”

(1) 肯定回答多用“Yes, please. / Yes, I’d love to.”等；

(2) 否定回答多用“No, thanks. / I’d like to, but I have to…”等表示委婉的

拒绝。

—Would you like to play football with me? 你愿意和我踢足球吗？

—Yes, I’d love to. 是的，我愿意。

(1) would like sth. 想要某物

I would like a cup of coffee. 我想要一杯咖啡。

(2) would like to do sth. 想要做某事

—Would you like to go shopping with me? 你愿意和我去购物吗？

—Yes, I’d like to. 是的，我愿意。

(3) would like sb. to do sth. 想要某人做某事

Jim would like his friend to help him with his English.

吉姆想要他的朋友帮助他学英语。

2. But my mother never makes a birthday cake. 但是我妈妈从不做生日蛋糕。

make sb. sth.意为“给某人制作某物”，相当于make sth. for sb.，这种结构称为双宾语结构。类似用法的动词还有buy, cook等。

(1) buy sb. sth. = buy sth. for sb. 给某人买某物

(2) cook sb. sth.= cook sth. for sb. 给某人做饭

I want to buy my brother a T-shirt. = I want to buy a T-shirt for my brother. 我想给我弟弟买件T恤衫。

3. And we sometimes give birthday cards. 并且我们有时候给生日贺卡。

give意为“给，送”，常构成固定短语give sb. sth.或give sth. to sb., 意为“给某人某物”。类似的动词还有send, show等。

(1) send sb. sth. = send sth. to sb. 给某人发送、寄某物

(2) show sb. sth. = show sth. to sb. 给某人展示某物

He always gives me some chocolate. = He always gives some chocolate to me. 他总是送给我一些巧克力。

4. Do you get birthday presents in China?

在中国你经常收到生日礼物吗？

get作及物动词时, 意为“收到；得到”, 后可接名词或代词作宾语。

On my birthday I always get many presents.

过生日时我总是收到许多礼物。    

It’s a nice hat. How do you get it? 这是一顶漂亮的帽子，你是怎么得到它的？

[拓展] get sth. for sb. 表示“为某人弄到/买某物”。

Can you get some water for the old man?
