    2. Ss look at the picture in 1a. Then read the words and phrases. Let them match the activities with the people.

    1. T: Now let’s listen to the tape, find out the right conversation, and number them 1-3.

    1. Can you play the guitar?
    Ø can “能够”,这里用来谈论人的能力。
    Ø 否定形式:can’t = can not 不能够

    want to do … 想干什么
    主语是第三人称单数时, want→wants;
    变疑问句、否定句要借助助动词do或does。

    join v. 参加;加入,此处指加入社团或组织,成为其中的成员。

    1. Work on 3a. 告诉学生们用所给的词汇来造句子。首先,用情态动词can及所给的第一个动词词组来造一个一般疑问句,并作出一个否定的回答。然后,用转折连词but及第二个词组造一个肯定句。

    II. Pre-reading
    1. T: Let's meet three new friends, Peter, Alan and Ma Huan. What can they do? Now read the descriptions and underline what they can do.
    2. Let one student read aloud what Peter can do. Then let another two students read aloud what Cindy and Frank can do.
    3. Let Ss work in pairs to ask and answer about what they can do.
    S1: What can Peter do?

    S2: What can Ma Huan do?
    S1: She can play ping-pong.

    1. T: Now we'll read three ads. What's the main idea of the each ad? What's each ad's title? Now let's read the three ads and select a title for each ad.

    Ø 与too意思相同。

    【语境应用】用also或too完成下列句子。

    help (sb.) with sth. 在某方面帮助某人
    e.g. Can you help me with my English?

    也可以说help sb. do sth. 帮助某人做某事

    English-speaking合成形容词,“说英语的”。
    如:English-speaking countries 说英语的国家
    French-speaking area说法语的地区
    Spoken English 英语口语
    spoken作形容词, “口头的;口语的”。
    与spoken English相对的是written English “书面体英语”。

    be good with “善于应付……的”, 相当于deal with people well或 be able to use sth.,后接名词。

    e.g. Mary is good at English.
