根据第二段“The “silent generatin”, r thse brn between 1928 and 1945, aren’t usually mentined alngside the likes f Twitter, Facebk, and Instagram. A study this year said that 45 percent f peple ver 65 use scial media sites. Yet, fr the majrity f senirs, it is mre abut gathering infrmatin than sharing things abut themselves. 故选A。
根据第四段“BJ, a friend wh just turned 80, des nt wn a cmputer, yet he’s ne f the 4 ut f 10 senirs with a smartphne, which never leaves his side. Fr him scial media is purely scial— n grandkids, just peple frm every stage f his eight decades. It has kept him yuthful and cnnected. He has figured ut hw t make Facebk and Instagram wrk fr him by asking his yunger friends fr help when he gets stuck.
根据第五段“Jesse Epstein, wh has been teaching in a cllege fr 44 years. He mved t Csta Rica with his wife and yung child fur years ag when he was 70. “I wuldn’t be able t live the life I nw lead withut the assistance f Zm, Ggle Classrm, WhatsApp, and Micrsft Teams,” Epstein tells me n the phne, speaking frm his hme in Tamarind. “My current students are all masters-level schlteachers.
通读全文,再根据第一段“Smetimes the peple least likely t engage with Twitter, Facebk, Instagram, r Zm are the peple wh can benefit frm it the mst.(有时,最不可能参与推特、脸书、Instagram或Zm的人是最能从中受益的人。)”,第四段“BJ, a friend wh just turned 80, des nt wn a cmputer, yet he’s ne f the 4 ut f 10 senirs with a smartphne, which never leaves his side. Fr him scial media is purely scial— n grandkids, just peple frm every stage f his eight decades. It has kept him yuthful and cnnected. He has figured ut hw t make Facebk and Instagram wrk fr him by asking his yunger friends fr help when he gets stuck. 故选A。

Exams are disturbing, especially fr thse already f an anxius character. The silence f the hall; the watchful eye f the mnitr; the smug (自命不凡的) expressin f the persn wh has finished 15 minutes early. It, therefre, seems hardly surprising that thse wh wrry abut taking tests d wrse than thse wh d nt. Scientist Maria Thebald therised that if this were true, then thse with high levels f anxiety wuld perfrm wrse in a real exam than in a mck exam (模拟考试) r during nline practice sessins.
S she wrked with 309 students wh were preparing fr their final exam.
During the 100 days befre the exam, all her vlunteers used a digital-learning platfrm which presented them with ld exam questins and lgged their perfrmance. They als sat a mck exam 40 days befre the real thing. T assess their levels f anxiety, they were asked, every day fr 40 days in the run-up t the real exam and als n the day f that exam, t respnd n a five-pint scale (五分制) t statements like, “I feel nervus”.
What Dr Thebald fund was nt what she expected. Anxiety n the day f the test did nt predict exam perfrmance at all. What did predict it was the level f knwledge a student displayed in the mck exam and the earlier digital learning activities. Thse wh perfrmed well in these als did well in the real thing, regardless f hw anxius they were n the day. What actually restricted students was anxiety during the weeks befre the exam tk place. The greater a student’s anxiety in thse days, the lwer his r her knwledge gain was, leaving that student with less material t reprduce during the exam.
Dr Thebald ntes that test anxiety is at its wrst when students have lw expectatins f success and meanwhile knw that passing the exam is extremely imprtant. T reduce this anxiety, she prpses a tw fld strategy fr students as they revise. First, they can raise their belief in their abilities by reminding themselves f hw much they knw. Secnd, they can reduce the significance f the test by reminding themselves that, while it is imprtant, it is nt a life-r-death situatin.
    12. Why did Dr Thebald cnduct the research?
    A. T prve general ideas abut anxiety wrng.
    B. T find ways t reduce students’ exam anxiety.
    C. T find ut what really cntributes t students’ anxiety.
    D. T see if pressure in the exam hall influences exam results.
    13. What did participants d during Dr Thebald’s research?
    A. They tk part in 40 mck exams.B. They reprted their learning activities.
    C. They had their psychlgical state assessed.D. They used a learning tl t reduce their anxiety.
    14. What did Dr Thebald’s research find?
    A. Pressure drives students t study hard.
    B. Students feel mre pressure during real exams.
    C. Anxiety n the exam day makes students perfrm prly.
    D. Students’ perfrmance in mck exams can predict real exam results.
    15. What is a way t reduce pre-test anxiety accrding t Dr Thebald?
    A. Being mre cnfident in themselves.B. Having lwer expectatins f themselves.
    C. Treating exams as smething unimprtant.D. Taking mre mck exams befre the real ne.
D 13. C 14. D 15. A
