    3.Thinking ability: ①Let the students know how to talk about past events.②Let the students remember the important things or days.

    The vocabulary:

    rainstorm; at the time of; so far; against the bedroom window; get wet; be caught in.

    Target language:

    1. What were people doing yesterday at the time of the rainstorm?

    2. But I could hear the heavy rain against my bedroom window.

    3. Looks like many people were caught in the rain yesterday.

    2.lead in

    (1)Ask students questions according to the pictures:

    (2)Show the four pictures in 1a and ask what they were doing when the rainstorm came? Students answer the questions with “was/were+动词-ing”

    3.Pre-listening

    (1)Finish 1a:Where were the people at the time of the rainstorm? Match the statements with the people in the picture.

    4.While-listening

    (1)Listen and finish 1b:Listen to the TV report and circle the correct responses.

    (2)Listen again and fill in the blanks.

    The girl was at home __________________.

    The boy ___________ at the library after school.

    The woman ____________________ after work.

    The man ________________ from the supermarket.

    (3)Read listening materials and explain the language points.

    5.Post-listening

    (1)Role play 1c and explain some phrases.

    (2)Make short conversations with “What was she/he doing?” “He/She was ...?”.

    (3)Ask students to show the conversations they made.

    教学反思

    The topic of Unit 5 is“unforgettable events”. After learning, the students can talk about past events and tell a story. In the first period, the old knowledge is used to lead in the new knowledge, and the Past Progressive Tense is introduced by reviewing the Past Tense. The teacher should use the listening practice to improve their listening ability.
