【端午节】Dragon Boat Festival

端午节为每年农历五月初五，是中国的传统节日(traditional festival)。相传我国古代爱国诗人屈原，于公元前278年的五月初五，因楚国（今湖北等地）国都失陷，怀抱石头，投入汨罗江以身殉国。人们崇敬屈原，为了不让鱼鳖食咬屈原的遗体，就用粽子叶包上粮食，投入江中，以喂饱鱼鳖。为了表达对他的哀思，人们还在江上举行龙舟竞渡活动。每年的端午节，人们仍保持赛龙舟，吃粽子的习俗。

如今，端午节已跨越国界，成为诸如日本，韩国，新加坡，越南等许多东南亚国家的一个重要节日。作为亚洲文化的一个重要代表及组成部分，这一源于中国的传统节日已列入世界非物质文化遗产名录。

 race可数名词，意为“竞赛”。

2. But there isn’t Dragon Boat festival in the US, so it’s like any other night for Zhu Hui and his host family. 但是在美国没有端午节，因此对朱辉和他的寄宿家庭来说，今晚和其他任何一个晚上一样。

（1）any 此处用作形容词，意为“任何的，任一的”，其后跟可数名词单数。

例如：You can take any box on the table.你可以拿走桌子上的任何一个盒子。

①any 还可意为“一些”，常用于否定句或疑问句中，修饰可数名词复数或不可数名词，而肯定句中用some。

例如：The twins don’t have any friends here.这对双胞胎这里没有朋友。

②当表示建议、请求或希望得到肯定回答时，some可用于疑问句中，而不用any。

辨析：other与another

①other形容词，意为“另外的，其他的”。其后跟复数名词,表示三者或三者以上的其他人或事物。例如：I can see some other girls.我可以看到一些其他的女孩。

②another意为“又一（个）；另一（个）”。泛指总数为三个或以上中的任意另一个，后接单数名词。例如：Can I have another piece of bread?我能再吃一片 面包吗？

3. Zhu Hui misses his family and wishes to have his mom’s delicious zongzi.

朱辉想念他的家人，希望吃到母亲做的可口的粽子。

（1）miss 为及物动词，意为“怀念，想念”。

(2)介词短语of my family在此作定语修饰名词picture；介词of短语作定语放在被修饰的名词后面，叫作后置定语。例如：This is a map of China.这是一幅中国地图。

study，此处是不及物动词，意为“学习”。例如：I am studying at school.我在学校学习。
